Why Did My Candle Wick Go Out? Here’s How to Fix it!
Why Does a Wick Drown?
As your candle burns, the wax melts into a liquid pool. Occasionally, a wick can become submerged in that melted wax, making it difficult for the flame to stay lit. This can happen for several reasons, including:
The wick shifted slightly during burning.
Excess liquid wax temporarily covered the wick.
The wick curled over into the melt pool.
The candle was extinguished before the wick had a chance to fully establish itself.
This is more common with multi-wick candles than many people realize.
The Easy Fix
If your wick has gone out, don’t panic!
Allow the flame to go out completely if it’s still burning.
While the wax is still warm and liquid, use a toothpick, skewer, or wick dipper to gently lift the wick upright.
Remove any excess wax surrounding the wick if necessary.
Relight the wick.
Most of the time, that’s all it takes! Once the wick is standing above the melted wax, it can draw fuel properly and continue burning.
A Few Tips for the Best Burn
Trim your wicks to about 1/4 inch before each burn.
Allow your candle to burn long enough for the melt pool to reach close to the edges.
Keep candles away from drafts, fans, and open windows.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.

I recently had this happen during one of my own candle tests. One wick became submerged in the melted wax, so I simply used a toothpick to gently lift it back up. Once relit, it burned beautifully! Sometimes, a tiny adjustment is all your candle needs.
